Don’t let perfection kill good things…
Here is a tension I have discovered between two principles. Good is the enemy of great and yet the quest for perfect will the kill many good to great things. We have to strive for greatness in all we do. And so often I find myself not doing worthwhile things because I am not sure I will do them well. A quote I found helpful: “Don’t make perfect the enemy of good…If it is worth doing, then it is worth doing half-assed.” With some areas of my life, my organization, my family I need to focus on moving from good to great. In other areas - I just need to start doing the worthwhile, the good. What about you?

We are fast approaching another Easter weekend. For many of us it is filled with activity, fun, gatherings, perhaps church service(s). How quickly the time will scurry past us and soon we will be thinking about…Mother’s Day.
Before we get carried away and this Easter passes us by, take time with me right now to remember the beautiful, scandalous story of Jesus. As crazy as it may sound, it was God’s plan to remedy our world through the horrific and hope-filled events surrounding a cross and empty tomb.
From our perspective it may seem odd. However, the cross was the only solution that could begin the process of restoration that our world desperately needed. Jesus who had done nothing wrong, took the consequences of our rebellion and our broken upon himself at the cross. The result? Those who acknowledge the truth and believe in the significance of Jesus story can experience freedom from meaningless existence, live with hope their life can change, and enjoy eternal and personal relationship with God.
And the story didn’t stop there - Jesus didn’t stay dead! His return to life gives him unmatched authority to anyone in human history. His resurrection proclaims to a world terrified of death that you no longer have to be afraid of what happens next. The empty tomb also announces that Jesus has power over all that is wrong in our world and in your life…that things can change!
God doesn’t stand at a distance disappointingly wagging his finger at missed opportunities and mistakes your life. Easter tells us that God loves you so much, He got involved in helping to make things right; long before we were even born!
Easter reminds us that we are more helpless and sinful than we really want to admit AND AT THE SAME TIME more loved than we really believe is possible.
Easter is the gravity that keeps our soul grounded. It is the heart cry of the human experience. It answers our deepest longings for love, purpose, significance and hope.
It reminds us of FAITH - that there is more to this life than the external things we see and feel. It inspires us with HOPE, that the broken, hurting, sin-filled world will not stay so forever. It announces that there is one who has authority over the power of all things wrong and the haunting whispers of death…His name is Jesus! It speaks of LOVE that our Heavenly Father holds for all people…YOU matter to Him! And it inspires us to live our life demonstrating those things: Faith, Hope, and Love, to the world around us.
This is a holiday, not just for gatherings, candy, and celebration of spring. It is a reminder of the good news God announced years ago. God is inviting the whole world, no matter what you have or haven’t done to come back to him.
Lets celebrate Him and His story this Easter.

Welp, the gear is all prepared for tomorrow. Glass City Half Marathon is here. My gear is probably more prepared than I am. As long as I finish in under 2 hours I will be pleased.
It is the starting line…or perhaps the finish line. I am hoping this begins a journey of writing and simplifying how I share my life, thoughts, my kids, and random discoveries with those who want to follow along.
